Position Details

  • Location: 1542 NW 14th Ave, Portland, OR 97209
  • Days & Time: Saturdays, 1:00pm - 3:00pm, every other Saturday starting Fall 2026
  • Hours: Part-time
  • Pay: $24 - $36 per hour (sliding scale based on tasks and class size)
  • Work Environment: In person

About the Role

As a Children's Italian Program Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching Italian language skills to children aged three to twelve. Your fluency in Italian, creativity, and experience with lesson planning will help create an immersive language experience. You will foster intercultural interaction and make learning both fun and effective by emphasizing basic Italian language and cultural concepts in a playful, engaging environment where children feel safe and motivated to learn.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engaging, age-appropriate Italian lessons using songs, games, movement, and storytelling 🎶🤹‍♀️
  • Establish a consistent classroom routine that supports immersion in Italian
  • Manage classroom behavior with positive guidance techniques 🤝
  • Prepare simple materials and activities for each session

Qualifications

  • Fluent in Italian (native or near-native proficiency) 🇮🇹
  • Experience working with children aged 3–6
  • Strong classroom presence with the ability to engage young learners
  • Reliable, communicative, and team-oriented

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in Early Childhood Education or related field

Physical Demands & Work Environment

While performing this role, employees should be able to sit, communicate, reach, and manipulate objects or tools. Moving materials weighing up to 10 pounds occasionally is required. Manual dexterity and coordination are important for operating computers and office equipment for over 50% of the work period. This position involves typical teaching activities, offering a dynamic and engaging environment.
