About the position
The Bureau of External Relations and Advocacy (BERA) plays a vital role in positioning UNDP as the world’s leading development agency. Its objectives include promoting UNDP’s authority and thought leadership on sustainable development, tackling issues like poverty, inequality, and climate change. BERA fosters strategic relationships and alliances, ensuring strong political and financial support by clearly communicating UNDP’s mission, capabilities, and services.
Within BERA, the Digital Communications Studio manages UNDP’s online visibility, creating engaging content, leading social media initiatives, and strengthening the UNDP brand globally. Recently, a major overhaul of UNDP’s websites was launched as part of a digital transformation to enhance user experience and digital engagement. The Web and Social Media Editor (French) will play a key role in managing and optimizing UNDP’s digital footprint in the French language, supporting this ongoing effort.
Responsibilities
- Social Media Management: Oversee UNDP’s Twitter and Facebook channels in French, define reach and engagement goals, develop strategies, and analyze performance through reports.
- Content Creation: Produce, edit, and curate content in French for the UNDP website and digital platforms, including web stories, headlines, scripts, captions, and visual assets.
- Website Publishing: Publish content on the French UNDP website using the digital experience platform (Drupal/Acquia).
- Website Maintenance: Monitor and ensure the quality of the French corporate website, fix issues, recommend upgrades, and improve user experience.
- Content Curation: Manage the French homepage to ensure consistency with UNDP’s communication priorities.
- Knowledge Sharing: Identify best practices, synthesize lessons learned, and document insights for continuous improvement.
- Additional Duties: Perform other tasks related to UNDP’s digital communications ecosystem as necessary.
Requirements
- Educational Background: Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Communications, Journalism, Social Science, or related fields. OR a Bachelor’s degree with an additional 2 years of relevant experience.
- Work Experience: For bachelor’s degree applicants, a minimum of 2 years in digital communications, media, marketing, journalism, or related fields.
- Language Skills: Fluency in both French and English is required.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience creating content and managing social media accounts
- Familiarity with digital communications, media, marketing, or journalism
- Proficiency with content management systems
- Experience within the United Nations or similar organizations
- Proven track record of producing and publishing web content in French
- Capability to design and implement social media or marketing campaigns
- Skills in editing and reviewing web stories, scripts, captions, and translations from English to French
- Analytical skills to evaluate social media performance via reports
- Knowledge of Spanish is an asset 🌎
