UNDP is seeking a talented Web and Social Media Editor (French) to manage and enhance our digital presence in French, contributing to our global development initiatives. 🌍

Tiered Application Approach

Office/Unit/Project Overview

The Bureau of External Relations and Advocacy (BERA) positions UNDP as a leading global development agency, fostering strategic relationships to address key issues like poverty, inequality, and climate change. 🌱

Within BERA, the Digital Communications Studio is pivotal in managing UNDP’s online presence, creating engaging content, and building the UNDP brand, especially through recent website overhauls and digital transformation initiatives.

Scope of Work

  1. Manage UNDP’s global social media channels (Twitter and Facebook) in French:
    • Collaborate with the Social Media Specialist to set reach and engagement goals for French-speaking audiences.
    • Plan and execute social media strategies for campaigns and projects.
    • Analyze platform performance via reports and analytics to evaluate success.
  2. Create, edit, and produce French content for digital platforms:
    • Coordinate with content teams to develop French content aligned with the editorial calendar.
    • Edit web stories, headlines, scripts, and captions in French, ensuring consistency across languages.
    • Translate and proofread English content into French for web presentation.
    • Select visual assets with multimedia teams for compelling stories.
    • Publish content on UNDP’s corporate web platform (Drupal/Acquia).
  3. Maintain and ensure quality of the corporate website:
    • Regularly monitor the French website and platforms for outdated info or functionality issues.
    • Collaborate with the team to fix errors and implement website upgrades.
    • Suggest and assist with user experience improvements, especially for the French homepage.
  4. Facilitate knowledge sharing:
    • Identify and document best practices and lessons learned related to digital communications and project execution.

The incumbent will perform other duties as needed to support UNDP’s digital communication efforts. 🔧

Institutional Arrangement

This role reports directly to the Web Copywriting Specialist within the Digital Communications Studio, with overall guidance from senior management within BERA. 🎯

Required Skills and Experience

Educational Requirements

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Communications, Journalism, Social Sciences, or related fields, or
  • First-level university degree + 2 years of additional experience in relevant areas.

Work Experience

  • Applicants with a Master’s degree are not required to have professional experience.
  • Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree need at least 2 years of experience in digital communications, media, marketing, or related fields.

Desired Skills

  • Experience creating and managing social media content and accounts.
  • Proficiency with content management systems.
  • Experience in digital communications, media, or journalism.
  • Web content production in French.
  • Planning social media or marketing campaigns.
  • Editing stories, headlines, scripts, and captions in French.
  • Translating and proofreading English-French content.
  • Evaluating social media performance analytics.
  • Experience within the UN system or similar organizations is a plus.

Languages

Fluent in French and English is required. Knowledge of Spanish is an asset. 🌐
