Position Overview 📝

The Turkish Video-Telephone Interpreter is responsible for on-demand calls, facilitating conversations between Turkish and English speakers. You’ll help eliminate communication barriers across sectors like healthcare, government, insurance, finance, utilities, travel & hospitality, law enforcement, courts, and emergency services (911).

While the role involves verbal interpretation, it does not include written translation. Interpreters process spoken language quickly, accurately, and with sensitivity to cultural nuances. Sessions may involve simple or complex topics, technical or non-technical.

This is a fully remote position. A quiet, secure workspace at home is essential to perform effectively.

Essential Job Functions 🔧

  • Respond promptly to video and audio interpretation sessions with professionalism and friendliness.
  • Participate in online training (video and audio).
  • Provide interpretation services via video and type data efficiently on assigned devices (laptop, desktop, mobile, tablet).
  • Accurately interpret concepts and meanings, adhering to established protocols, avoiding omissions or additions.
  • Communicate clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
  • Maintain professionalism and composure during sessions, including emergency situations like 911 calls.
  • Be punctual and available during scheduled hours.
  • Follow client instructions and protocol, ensuring interactions meet expectations without unauthorized interaction with LEP clients.
  • Understand industry-specific terminology, especially in Medical, Insurance, Finance, and Law sectors.
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and commitment to diversity.
  • Handle high-pressure calls, some of which may be emotionally intense or lengthy, maintaining high service standards.

Qualifications ✅

  • Fluent in Turkish and English, with strong cultural understanding.
  • Ability to assess regional and accent differences for effective communication.
  • Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills for high accuracy.
  • Ability to stay neutral and objective during sensitive topics like end-of-life, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, or gender and sexual orientation matters.
  • Educational or professional experience in language-related fields (teaching, translation, interpretation) is preferred.
  • Willingness to adapt to new technological tools and improvements.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
