Qualifications & Skills 🌟

License & Certification 📄

  • Valid Georgia driver’s license required
  • Bilingual interpreter or translator certification preferred

Educational Background 🎓

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Training in English and a designated secondary language

Experience 💼

  • Translation of technical documents required
  • Simultaneous interpretation experience in English and the designated language required
  • Two years of experience in preparing, editing, and translating materials, along with oral interpretation during meetings, preferred

Skills & Competencies 🌐

  • Strong intercultural interpersonal skills
  • Capability to engage with school leaders and diverse parents
  • Knowledge of American culture and cultures of the designated language speakers
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking in English and the second language
  • Word processing and editing skills in both languages
  • Ability to interpret simultaneously and consecutively, maintain confidentiality, and work effectively with staff and communities

Primary Responsibilities 🎯

  1. Parent Outreach: Engage with parents of English Learners to support their children's academic and language development through workshops and activities.
  2. Research & Training: Stay updated on best practices for engaging diverse families and deliver professional development to educators.
  3. Community Engagement: Serve as a district liaison to linguistic organizations, representing district leadership.
  4. Interpretation & Translation: Provide real-time oral interpretation at meetings and translate official district documents accurately.
  5. Documentation & Archiving: Maintain translation records, review and edit documents for accuracy and relevance.
  6. Additional Duties: Perform any other tasks assigned to support district goals.

Physical & Additional Information 🏋️‍♀️

While fulfilling this role, employees may sit for extended periods, talk, hear, stand, and move around. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required.
