Essential Functions

The core responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Listening and translating: Understand and convert spoken statements interchangeably between Korean and English.
• Effective communication: Speak, relay messages clearly, accurately, and swiftly.
• Translation of technical materials: Translate a variety of documents, especially technological and engineering materials, from Korean to English and vice versa, in various production and business settings.
• Organizing & finalizing translations: Prepare translated materials adhering to standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
• Specialist knowledge development: Maintain and expand understanding of technical translation areas.
• Learning & industry insight: Willingness to learn production processes and develop industry knowledge about transformers.
• Glossary management: Compile technical and informational terms into comprehensive glossaries and terminology lists.
• Cultural adaptation: Apply cultural understanding to ensure translations convey the original message meaningfully.

Education, Skills, Experience & Training

• Educational background: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• Experience: 2-3 years of relevant experience as a translator, interpreter, or similar role.
• Language proficiency: Fluent in Korean and English, both written and spoken.
• Proofreading skills: Excellent ability to identify grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors.
• Communication: Strong written and verbal skills.
• Work environment experience: Experience in manufacturing is a plus.
• Time management: Capable of meeting deadlines and managing multiple tasks effectively.
• Technological skills: Proficient in MS Office and quick to grasp new concepts.
• Interpersonal skills: Ability to build and maintain good relationships.

Physical & Mental Characteristics / Environmental Factors

• Ability to work at elevated heights and climb stairs or ladders.
• Stand and walk for 6-8 hours daily.
• Perform activities such as sitting, squatting, bending, stretching, twisting, crawling, kneeling, and reaching overhead as needed.
• Engage in repetitive movements.
• Use all applicable PPE (hard hat, safety toe shoes, safety glasses, gloves).
• Creatively troubleshoot manufacturing challenges.
