🔍 Overview

The Translator will deliver translation services to individuals facing language barriers across various fields including Education, Legal, Medical, Environmental, and Social Services. This role aligns with Cayuse's Mission, Vision, and Core Values.

📝 The Work

Provide accurate and culturally sensitive translation for a variety of contexts such as:

• Lectures
• Conversations
• Meetings
• Medical documentation
• Legal materials
• Other specialized content

Remain compliant with applicable privacy standards, such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), especially when interpreting in healthcare settings. Follow all client policies and adhere to the American Translators Association Code of Ethics. Ensure translations are complete, accurate, and faithful to the original, with cultural sensitivity throughout the process. Perform additional duties as assigned.

🎯 Qualifications & Skills

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience
• Minimum of 2 years of translation experience
• Certified Translation Professional
• Translation Certifications (e.g., agency-specific or program accreditation)
• Fluent in English
• Fluent in Portuguese
• Ability to pass background checks (may include additional checks depending on projects)

Minimum Skills:

• Discretion and impartiality in translation
• Excellent written communication skills
• Broad knowledge across various topics
• Cultural awareness and sensitivity
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat)
• Self-motivated and capable of multitasking
• Ability to work independently and in teams

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field
• Medical interpreter certification (from the Certification Commission of Healthcare Interpreters or the National Certification for Medical Interpreters)
• At least 2 years of legal and medical translation experience
• American Translators Association Certification
• Court-certified translator certification

👩‍💼 Reporting & Work Environment

Reports to: Deputy Program Manager

Work Conditions:

• Professional remote setting
• On-call availability within 48 hours for potential assignments
• Ability to perform duties for extended periods
• Proficiency with computer and office tools to meet workflow demands
• Ability to set up a productive, professional workspace
• Comfortable sitting for long durations in front of a computer screen
• Flexibility to work outside standard hours, including holidays if needed

💼 Employment Details

💰 Pay Range: USD $45.00 - USD $65.00 per hour
