🎯 Job Summary
Our Linguists perform real-time transcriptions of sensitive Thai language material, analyze colloquialisms and slang, and communicate critical information to law enforcement agencies. Responsibilities include transcribing source documents and recordings from various media formats, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
📝 Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Listen to oral and written intercepts in Thai, providing verbal and written summaries and transcriptions
- Report pertinent information to clients during live projects
- Maintain a master list of slang and codes used by specific groups or organizations
- Maintain a voice library for the project duration
- Transcribe and translate calls and documents as assigned, producing court-ready transcripts
- Utilize various reference tools created during the project
- Transcribe a minimum of 16 minutes of recorded conversation per day
- Operate specialized government software such as JSI Voice Box, Pen-Link, and Comverse
- Keep a daily log of productivity
- Perform related duties within scope as assigned
🎓 Minimum Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree + 3 years of relevant experience OR
- Associate degree + 5 years OR
- High School diploma + 7 years
- At least 1 year of experience in transcription in the required language
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident
- Knowledge of colloquial language, SMS, social media, and webchat terminology
- Excellent verbal and written proficiency in Thai, including proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling
- Ability to meet a language assessment score of 3 or higher in English (Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing)
- Strong computer skills: MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Typing speed of at least 45 words per minute
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Effective communication with management and law enforcement personnel
🔐 Security & Background Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Favorable credit check
- Successful completion of background investigation, medical, and drug screens
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency with at least 3 out of the last 5 years in the U.S.
⚙️ Physical & Working Conditions
- Standing, walking, and mobility required for meetings
- Limited climbing, stooping, kneeling (0-10%)
- Lifting, pulling, pushing (0-10%)
- Continuous use of fingers for typing and telephone use (100%)
- Sitting for extended periods, especially when monitoring calls
