We are looking for a passionate Teaching Associate in French to support our vibrant French Studies program for a fixed-term period starting from 15th June 2026.

The Role

The Department of French seeks to appoint a full-time Teaching Associate at Grade I on Pathway 3, from 15th June 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter until 30th April 2027. This is a fixed-term cover post while the current post-holder is on secondment.

French Studies is a vital part of the dynamic and forward-looking School of Modern Languages within the Faculty of Arts, Law and Social Sciences. French is offered to undergraduates in various formats, including:

  • Mandatory component of Single Honours degrees
  • Part of Joint Honours degrees with other modern languages or subjects
  • Optional course open to students across all Faculties
  • Part of the University-Wide Language Programme (UWLP)

What Will You Be Doing? 🎯

The successful candidate will:

  • Contribute flexibly to both undergraduate and postgraduate French language teaching
  • Support the French language team in developing innovative teaching methods and materials
  • Share best practices in teaching with colleagues
  • Assist with administrative activities related to language programs, including the Year Abroad

Who Are We Looking For? 🤝

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Fluent or near-fluent proficiency in French and English
  • A relevant first degree
  • A postgraduate qualification in language teaching
  • Experience teaching languages within the UK higher education sector
  • Fellowship of Advanced HE (desirable)

Additional Information ℹ️

  • Contract type: Fixed term until 30/04/2027
  • Work pattern: 35 hours/week
  • Grade: I
  • Salary: £39,906 - £44,746 per annum
  • Shift pattern: Monday - Friday
