Job Overview

Title: Teacher - Classroom

Position Type: Exempt

Primary Function:

Assume responsibility for planning and delivering instruction designed to enhance student learning in the classroom and school environment. Supervise students across various school settings and monitor student progress and outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications 🎓

  • Holds a valid professional teaching license with endorsement in French at the appropriate educational level (elementary, middle, or high school).
  • Demonstrates effective professional and personal traits necessary for working collaboratively with students, parents, staff, and community members.
  • Ability to monitor student work and behaviour across different seating arrangements and classroom setups.
  • Willingness and ability to travel between multiple work locations if assigned to an itinerant position.
  • Capable of preparing accurate and timely written reports.
  • Proficient in monitoring student behavior in all areas, including outdoor zones and gymnasiums.
  • High moral standards and integrity.

Performance Responsibilities ⭐

  • Plan and prepare lessons tailored to meet the diverse learning needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Create a positive and engaging classroom environment that fosters student learning.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and assignments.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate different student needs.
  • Adhere to state laws, school policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Maintain high standards of student behavior to ensure an orderly and productive classroom setting.
  • Follow policies to safeguard students, staff, and school property.
  • Promote respectful conduct and responsible citizenship among students.
  • Monitor and assess student progress using multiple data sources.
  • Identify resources and collaborate with personnel to support individual student needs.
  • Keep accurate records in compliance with legal and district standards.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress and school activities.
  • Build positive relationships between school and community.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, support staff, and administrators.
  • Design purposeful tasks for aides, substitutes, and volunteers.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and demonstrate professional conduct.
  • Identify and gather necessary instructional resources and materials.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the school program.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the school principal or administrators.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements 🏫💪

The physical demands of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Sitting and standing for extended periods.
  • Using manual dexterity to operate telephones and computers.
  • Listening and speaking effectively in various environments.
  • Physically lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Bending, stooping, sitting on the floor, climbing stairs, walking, and reaching overhead.

School Administrator

Terms of Employment ☀️

200 workdays annually, with potential additional days based on specific assignments. Salary is determined by the School Board Pay Plan.

Evaluation 📈

Performance evaluations will be conducted in accordance with district policies and regulations for licensed personnel.
