Position Overview 🎯
As a Teacher at ISDenver, you will guide students in their holistic development—personal, social, emotional, and academic—through engaging instruction and support. Your role includes creating a positive learning environment, collaborating with colleagues and families, and contributing to our vibrant school community.
Key Duties & Responsibilities 📝
- Instruction & Student Support: Assume responsibility as a subject area teacher or co-teacher, ensuring the progress and well-being of your students across all developmental domains.
- Lesson Planning & Delivery: Design and deliver high-quality lessons aligned with curriculum goals, considering the international and multicultural context of our students.
- Student Engagement: Challenge and inspire learners by tailoring instruction to individual educational needs and learning styles.
- Assessment & Feedback: Track student progress, providing timely, constructive feedback that fosters growth.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, organized, and stimulating environment that promotes discipline and well-being.
- Administrative Tasks: Handle attendance, supervision, and regular school procedures diligently.
- Family & Community Engagement: Communicate effectively with parents about student progress, behavior, and achievements.
- Extracurricular & School Activities: Lead or participate in field trips, outings, supervision duties, and community events to enrich student experiences.
- Collaborative Work: Work closely with colleagues, including teaching assistants, to ensure cohesive and effective teaching practices.
- Professional Growth: Engage in ongoing professional development, contribute to team initiatives, and share best practices.
Qualifications & Personal Attributes 🎓
- Education: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in education or related field (required).
- Credentials: Recognized teaching license (preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of two years teaching experience in ECE, Elementary, or Middle School (required for J1 visa sponsorship).
- Language Skills: Proficiency in English (Level B2 minimum; C1+ preferred) and proficiency in teaching language (Spanish, French, or Chinese) with excellent communication skills.
- Teaching Methods: Knowledge of age-appropriate, developmentally suitable pedagogies.
- Technological Competency: Skilled in Google Suite, data management, and digital tools.
- Collaboration & Professionalism: Ability to work independently or in teams, demonstrate analytical thinking, and uphold professionalism and punctuality.
- Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion: Passionate about DEIB practices and respectful of multicultural settings.
Physical & Environmental Demands 🚶♀️🌦️
- Lift and/or move up to 10-25 pounds occasionally.
- Sit, stand, walk, reach, and use hands for extended periods.
- Exposure to natural elements and moderate noise levels typical of a school environment.
Work Environment & Schedule ⏰
The work hours are from 7:45 am to 3:45 pm, Monday through Friday. Flexibility outside these hours may be required. All staff must be based in Denver, CO, as remote working is not available.
