The Role 👩🏫👨🏫
We are seeking an enthusiastic Support Teacher for the upcoming school year who operates with a strong sense of urgency, a solid work ethic, and a passion for supporting students. Knowledge of Hebrew is not required. We encourage applications from underrepresented groups to foster diversity and equity in our community.
What You’ll Do 📝
- Provide behavioral, academic, social, and emotional support to students
- Build positive relationships with students using supportive techniques and school-wide systems
- Collaborate with teachers to establish a strong classroom culture and consistent behavior expectations
- Assist teachers in devising strategies to reinforce learning based on individual student needs, interests, and abilities
- Work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning materials and skills
- Guide students through class routines and transitions
- Supervise students during lunch, recess, field trips, and non-instructional times
- Implement behavior intervention plans and track progress
- Maintain positive communication with families through regular updates
- Collaborate with both general and special education teachers
Who You Are 🧑🎓
- Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred
- Experience working with students with special needs is a plus
- Holding PA certification or working toward it is preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Strong work ethic combined with a sense of humor
- Training in verbal de-escalation preferred
