The US arm of DISCO, DISCO Hi-Tec America, Inc. (DHA), based in San Jose, CA, is seeking a dedicated Senior Payroll Specialist to join its Accounting team.

Position Details

• Title: Senior Payroll Specialist
• Location: San Jose, CA (onsite)
• Salary: $60,000 – $100,000
• Work Authorization: This position does not provide Visa support

Essential Job Functions

• Manage daily general ledgers and journal entries 🧾
• Verify data accuracy and update records for general accounting
• Oversee monthly and year-end closings, and participate in internal and external audits
• Support Accounts Payable processes
• Utilize Excel to analyze and report financial data to management upon request 📊
• Assist with internal managerial accounting tasks (WILL)
• Participate in corporate activities emphasizing deep thinking, value exchange, and improvement
• Report financial statements to HQ in Japan
• Independently troubleshoot logistical sequences
• Collaborate with payroll and accounting teams to resolve escalated payroll issues promptly
• Coordinate with HR and Payroll teams
• Prepare tax filings and other compliance reports
• Report directly to the Accounting Manager

Qualifications & Skills

• Extensive knowledge and experience in general accounting, especially Accounts Payable
• Attention to detail and strong interpersonal/communication skills (verbal and written) 💬
• Flexible and open-minded with a focus on continuous task improvement
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Proficiency in Japanese is a plus
• Understanding of payroll state compliance

Education & Experience Requirements

• 5+ years of corporate accounting experience with payroll knowledge
• Experience working in a fast-paced, growing company with over 200 employees
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• Manufacturing or similar industry experience is a plus
• CPP certification is a plus
• Experience processing and analyzing payroll and understanding state tax compliance
