Job Description

The Retail Banker I serves as a customer liaison, helping to deliver TD’s brand promise through financial expertise and consultative advice. You will support customers in achieving their financial goals and nurturing their relationship with TD.

Key Responsibilities: Depth & Scope

  • Proficient in products, services, and routine transactions; educate customers on banking solutions or refer to appropriate team members
  • Establish and nurture customer relationships through active listening and tailored solutions
  • Recommend products based on customer needs, highlighting features and benefits
  • Utilize CRM tools to assess customer needs proactively and lead outbound sales activities
  • Resolve customer issues independently, escalating when necessary
  • Engage in customer outreach, service, and advice activities to deliver a personalized experience
  • Discuss loan products and facilitate application intake
  • Maintain active registration with NMLS

Qualifications & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of customer service or sales experience (volunteering, education, military experience considered)
  • Previous teller experience preferred
  • Completion of teller training upon hire required
  • Strong communication, organization, and independent working skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Notary license is a plus

Customer Accountabilities

  • Deliver a Legendary customer experience through relationship building, service, and advice
  • Support customer confidence with educational content, proactive support, and personalized solutions
  • Act as an escalation point for customer questions or concerns
  • Perform teller transactions while adhering to operational policies and fraud mitigation measures
  • Promote self-service banking options and digital channels
  • Be a brand ambassador—internal and external

Shareholder & Operational Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with regulations like BSA and Patriot Act
  • Support operational excellence, risk management, and accurate documentation
  • Participate in daily store operations and uphold TD’s risk framework

Team & Employee Development

  • Be an active team member supporting positive work environment and collaboration
  • Engage in performance management, coaching, and continuous learning
  • Build relationships with partner bankers for effective referrals
  • Embrace change and contribute to an inclusive, diverse culture

Regulatory & Physical Requirements

This role qualifies as a Loan Originator under Regulation Z and the SAFE Act. Candidates must pass background and credit checks and be eligible for NMLS registration.

Physical Work Conditions: Sitting, standing, walking, lifting under 25 lbs., multitasking, operating office equipment, and performing sedentary tasks are common.
