Job Summary

The Retail Banker I is a pivotal customer liaison role, dedicated to delivering TD’s brand promise by offering financial expertise and consultative advice. You will support customers in achieving their financial goals and help grow their relationship with TD.

Core Responsibilities & Scope

  • Proficiently handle products, services, and routine transactions, identifying opportunities for education and referrals
  • Develop and nurture customer relationships through active listening and personalized solutions
  • Make product recommendations based on customer needs, emphasizing benefits that support financial well-being
  • Use CRM tools to proactively assess customer solutions and lead outbound sales activities
  • Resolve customer issues independently, escalating when necessary
  • Engage in customer outreach, servicing, and advice to fulfill our "unexpectedly human" promise
  • Facilitate loan applications and maintain active NMLS registration

Qualifications & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1+ years in customer service or sales, with volunteering, education, or military experience as a plus
  • Preferred: Teller experience and ability to complete teller training upon hire
  • Strong communication, organizational, and independent working skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Notary License (Preferred)

Customer & Shareholder Accountabilities

  • Deliver legendary customer experiences through relationship building and proactive support
  • Act as a customer advocate, focusing on financial confidence and problem resolution
  • Support operational excellence, compliance, and risk management
  • Educate customers on self-service options and digital banking channels
  • Handle teller transactions while monitoring for fraud and adhering to policies
  • Maintain a professional brand image internally and externally

Team & Employee Responsibilities

  • Contribute positively to team dynamics, supporting service, innovation, and collaboration
  • Engage in ongoing learning and performance development
  • Foster an inclusive and diverse work environment
  • Build effective relationships with partner bankers for referrals and collaboration

  • Act as a brand ambassador, promoting TD’s culture and values

Legal & Physical Requirements

OCC Licensing & Regulation: Must meet the requirements under Regulation Z of the Truth in Lending Act and SAFE Act, including registration with NMLS and background checks.

Physical Demands: This role involves sedentary work, frequent sitting, and occasional walking, lifting, and reaching, with continuous concentration and problem-solving.

  • Travel: Occasional domestic; no international travel required
  • Physical activity: Repetitive movements, lifting under 25 lbs., handling standard office equipment
