Job Description

The Retail Banker I acts as a customer liaison, helping deliver TD’s Brand promise through financial expertise and consultative advice. This role supports business growth by identifying banking solutions that help customers achieve their financial goals and deepen their relationship with TD.

Depth & Scope

  • Proficient in products, services, and routine transactions to educate Customers or refer them to appropriate team members, ensuring a positive experience
  • Broad knowledge of the full product suite, services, and processes with low to moderate complexity/risk
  • Builds and nurtures Customer relationships through product knowledge, active listening, and identifying additional needs
  • Recommends suitable products based on Customer needs, highlighting features and benefits
  • Uses Customer relationship management tools for assessments and outbound sales activities
  • Independently resolves customer issues, escalating when necessary
  • Explains detailed or complex information to build strong working relationships
  • Participates in Customer outreach and advice activities to fulfill TD’s promise of being "unexpectedly human"
  • Facilitates loan product conversations and application intake
  • Must maintain an active registration with NMLS

Education & Experience

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • 1+ years’ experience in customer service or sales (volunteering, education, military experience considered)
  • Teller experience preferred
  • Ability to complete teller training on hire
  • Strong communication, organization, and independent work skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Notary license (preferred)

Customer Accountabilities

  • Deliver a legendary customer experience through relationship building and personalized service
  • Support TD's Customer Service Strategy with educational content, consultative support, and proactive insights
  • Advocate for customers by offering solutions that improve their financial confidence
  • Manage customer flow, greet warmly, assess initial needs, and guide appropriately
  • Educate customers on self-service and digital options, acting as an escalation point if needed
  • Perform teller transactions adhering to operational policies and fraud mitigation
  • Consider impact of decisions on TD, customers, and stakeholders
  • Represent the TD brand both internally and externally

Shareholder Accountabilities

  • Ensure compliance with regulations like BSA and Patriot Act to minimize risk
  • Participate in daily operations aligned with TD's risk framework
  • Maintain accuracy and documentation for transactions and activities
  • Support operational excellence by adhering to policies and procedures

OCC Language & Regulatory Requirements

This position qualifies under various regulations such as Regulation Z and the SAFE Act. Candidates must be eligible for registration with NMLS, pass background checks, and meet legal requirements.

Physical Requirements

This role involves sedentary work, frequent sitting and standing, occasional walking, lifting under 25 lbs., and other physical activities outlined in the full description.
