About the Role 🗣️

At TPC, interpreters play a crucial role in bridging language gaps for limited-English speakers. Whether assisting during medical appointments or helping clients access essential services, your trilingual fluency in English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese directly impacts real-world interactions. This structured, call center-style position requires professionalism, speed, and precision in interpreting complex and emotionally nuanced conversations.

Key Responsibilities ✅

• Provide interpretation services between English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese across industries such as medical, legal, and customer service
• Ensure accuracy, clarity, and neutrality in all interpretations, preserving tone, intent, and emotion
• Maintain confidentiality and impartiality at all times
• Manage call flow professionally, intervening respectfully for clarification when needed
• Show emotional intelligence, especially during high-pressure or emotionally charged interactions
• Utilize active listening, note-taking, and memory retention techniques to handle longer exchanges effectively
• Stay within the interpreter's role, avoiding personal opinions or advice
• Participate in ongoing training and coaching to continuously improve skills
• Use basic computer tools like MS Office and internal platforms to manage calls and log activities

Required Qualifications 📋

• High school diploma or equivalent; college education preferred
• Fluency in English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese with B2+ proficiency or higher
• Ability to pass language and interpreting assessments
• At least 6 months of experience in call centers, customer service, or interpreting
• Strong verbal communication skills, ethical decision-making, and tri-lingual accuracy
• Capacity to think clearly and act professionally under emotionally complex conditions
• Good time management, responsibility, and integrity
• Assertiveness and session control skills
• Basic computer proficiency, including typing and MS Office navigation
• Quiet, distraction-free workspace suitable for active listening
• Reliable home internet connection (no cellular data/hotspots)
• Identity verification through valid government-issued photo ID during recruitment and training
