About the Role

TransPerfect Connect (TPC) is seeking highly fluent, professional trilingual speakers fluent in English <> Fuzhounese, Mandarin, Cantonese with experience applying their linguistic skills in a professional call center environment. We offer paid, comprehensive training to launch your career as an Over-the-Phone (OPI) and Video Remote Interpreter (VRI), supporting clients across healthcare, legal, financial, and other sectors.

Interpreters at TPC play a critical role in ensuring accurate, culturally sensitive communication for limited-English speakers. Role Requirements

This is a structured call center role demanding professional-level command of English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese. Candidates must interpret complicated conversations swiftly and accurately, including idiomatic expressions, specialized terminology (medical, legal, financial), and emotionally nuanced content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate, consecutive interpretation between English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese across various industries (medical, legal, customer service, etc.)
  • Maintain clarity, neutrality, and preserve tone, intent, and emotion
  • Confidentiality and impartiality at all times 🔒
  • Manage call flow professionally, intervening respectfully when needed
  • Display emotional intelligence during high-pressure or emotionally charged calls ❤️
  • Use memory retention, active listening, and note-taking techniques for longer exchanges
  • Strictly adhere to interpretation protocols, avoiding personal opinions or advice
  • Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and feedback sessions ➡️
  • Operate basic computer tools (MS Office, internal platforms) effectively during calls

Required Qualifications ✅

  • High school diploma or equivalent (college preferred)
  • Fluency in English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese with B2+ proficiency or higher
  • Successful completion of language and interpreting skills assessment
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in call center, customer service, or interpreting roles
  • Excellent verbal communication and ethical decision-making skills
  • Ability to think clearly and work professionally under emotional and fast-paced situations
  • Strong professional responsibility, integrity, and time management
  • Assertiveness and session control skills
  • Basic computer proficiency including typing and MS Office
  • Quiet, distraction-free workspace for active listening
  • Reliable home internet connection (cable, DSL, or fiber; cellular data not permitted)
  • Valid government-issued photo ID required throughout hiring process
