About the Role

TransPerfect Connect (TPC) is seeking skilled, professional trilingual speakers with experience in call center or interpreting environments. We provide comprehensive paid training to help you become a confident Over-the-Phone (OPI) and Video Remote Interpreter (VRI), enabling you to serve clients in critical industries worldwide.

As a TPC interpreter, you play an essential role in ensuring accurate, culturally sensitive communication for individuals with limited English proficiency. Whether assisting in medical appointments or accessing essential services, your language expertise creates a positive, tangible impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide accurate interpretation between English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese across various sectors (medical, legal, customer service, etc.)
• Maintain neutrality and clarity, preserving tone, intent, and emotion
• Uphold confidentiality and impartiality at all times
• Manage call flow professionally, intervening respectfully for clarification when necessary
• Demonstrate emotional intelligence during high-pressure or emotionally charged interactions
• Apply active listening techniques and note-taking to effectively manage longer exchanges
• Stay within your interpretive role, avoiding personal opinions or advice
• Engage in ongoing training sessions to continually improve your skills
• Utilize basic computer tools (MS Office, internal platforms) to log activity and manage calls

Required Qualifications ✅

• High school diploma or equivalent (college preferred)
• Fluency in English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese with B2+ proficiency or higher
• Ability to pass language and interpreting assessments
• At least 6 months of call center, customer service, or interpreting experience
• Strong verbal communication skills and professional integrity
• Ability to handle emotionally complex situations calmly and professionally
• Excellent time management and responsibility awareness
• Comfort with assertive communication and session control
• Basic computer skills (typing, MS Office)
• Quiet, distraction-free workspace conducive to active listening
• Stable home internet connection (no cellular data or hotspots)

Preferred Qualifications 🌟

• Experience with remote work tools and digital platforms

Remote Work Requirements 🏡

• Quiet, comfortable, and distraction-free work environment
• Desktop or laptop (Windows or Mac) with at least 16GB RAM
• Broadband internet (minimum 30 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload)—cellular data/hotspots not permitted
• Computer no older than 5 years, with a functioning webcam
• Windows 10 or newer / macOS Big Sur (OS 11) or newer
