🎯 About the Role

Interpreters at TPC serve a vital function in ensuring accurate, culturally sensitive communication for limited-English speakers. Whether assisting patients during medical appointments or helping individuals access essential services, your linguistic expertise will have a tangible, positive impact.

This role requires professional-level command of multiple languages, interpretive speed, and precision—handling complex conversations, idioms, specialized terminology, and emotionally charged content with care and neutrality. Success hinges on active listening, emotional resilience, professionalism, empathy, and adaptability.

🔑 Key Responsibilities

• Provide consecutive interpretation services in English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese across diverse industries (medical, legal, customer service, etc.)
• Ensure accuracy, clarity, and neutrality, preserving tone, intent, and emotion
• Maintain confidentiality and impartiality at all times
• Manage call flow professionally, intervening respectfully when clarification is needed
• Demonstrate emotional intelligence during high-pressure or emotionally charged interactions
• Utilize active listening, note-taking, and memory techniques to manage extended conversations
• Remain strictly within the interpreter role, avoiding personal opinions or advice
• Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and feedback to continually improve your skills
• Use basic computer tools (MS Office, internal platforms) efficiently for call management and logging activity

📝 Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (college preferred)
• Fluency in English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese with B2+ proficiency or higher
• Ability to pass language and interpreting skills assessments
• Minimum of 6 months experience in call center, customer service, or interpreting roles
• Strong verbal communication, ethical judgment, and professional responsibility
• Capability to handle fast-paced, emotionally charged situations with clarity
• Proficiency in basic computer skills and MS Office
• A quiet, distraction-free workspace supporting active listening
• Stable internet connection (no cellular hotspots)
• Valid government-issued photo ID required throughout the recruiting and training process
