About the Role
At TPC, interpreters facilitate accurate and culturally sensitive communication for limited-English speakers. Whether aiding patients during medical appointments or helping clients access vital services, your linguistic expertise will directly impact people's lives.
This structured, call center-style position requires professional-level proficiency in multiple languages, interpreting complex discussions with speed, accuracy, and emotional intelligence. Flexibility, professionalism, and strict adherence to interpretation protocols are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide interpretation services between English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese across medical, legal, customer service, and other industries
- Ensure accuracy, clarity, and neutrality, preserving tone, intent, and emotional nuance
- Maintain confidentiality and impartiality at all times
- Manage call flow respectfully, intervening for clarification when necessary
- Display emotional intelligence during high-pressure or emotionally charged interactions
- Utilize active listening, note-taking, and memory techniques to manage longer exchanges
- Stay within your role— avoid personal opinions or advice
- Engage in ongoing training and coaching to enhance skills
- Use basic computer tools (MS Office, internal platforms) to manage calls and logs

Required Qualifications ✔️
- High school diploma or equivalent (college preferred)
- Fluency in English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese with B2+ proficiency or higher
- Ability to pass language and interpreting skills assessments
- Minimum of 6 months experience in call centers, customer service, or interpretation
- Strong verbal communication skills and ethical decision-making
- Ability to perform professionally under emotionally complex and fast-paced situations
- Excellent time management, responsibility, and integrity
- Comfortable asserting control over sessions and managing conversations
- Basic computer skills, including typing and MS Office
- A quiet, distraction-free workspace conducive to active listening
- Stable internet connection (no cellular data or hotspots)
- Identity Verification: Valid government-issued photo ID required during recruitment and training
