As an Interpreter at TPC, you will play a crucial part in providing accurate and culturally appropriate communication for limited-English speakers across various industries. Whether supporting medical appointments or accessing essential services, your trilingual fluency directly impacts lives.

This structured, call center-style role demands professional-level command of English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese, with the ability to interpret complex conversations swiftly and precisely, including idiomatic expressions, specialized terminology, and emotionally nuanced content.

🎯 Key Responsibilities

  • Provide interpretation between English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese across sectors like healthcare, legal, and customer service
  • Ensure accuracy, clarity, and neutrality—preserving tone, intent, and emotion
  • Maintain confidentiality and impartiality at all times
  • Manage calls professionally, including respectful clarification when needed
  • Demonstrate emotional intelligence in high-pressure or emotionally charged interactions
  • Use active listening and note-taking techniques to handle longer exchanges effectively
  • Stay within interpretation role—avoiding personal opinions or advice
  • Participate in ongoing training—including coaching, feedback, and skill enhancement
  • Utilize basic computer tools (MS Office, internal platforms) for call management and logging activity

📝 Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; college preferred
  • Fluency in English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese (B2+ or higher)
  • Ability to pass language and interpretation skills assessments
  • Minimum 6 months' experience in call center, customer service, or interpreting
  • Strong verbal communication and ethical decision-making skills
  • Ability to think clearly and act professionally in emotionally complex situations
  • Excellent time management and sense of responsibility
  • Comfort with assertive communication and session control
  • Basic computer skills (typing, MS Office)
  • Quiet, distraction-free workspace conducive to active listening
  • Reliable home internet connection (no cellular data or hotspots)

🔧 Remote Work Requirements

  • Quiet, comfortable, and distraction-free workspace

  • Computer no older than 5 years with functioning webcam
  • Windows 10 or newer / macOS Big Sur (OS 11) or newer
