About the Role
As a Trilingual Interpreter at TPC, you will facilitate accurate and culturally sensitive communication for limited-English speakers. Whether assisting during medical appointments or helping clients access vital services, your language expertise will have a real-world impact.
This structured role requires professional-level command of multiple languages, interpreting complex conversations swiftly and precisely. Success factors include active listening, emotional intelligence, professionalism, empathy, and adaptability. You will manage live calls, maintaining neutrality and confidentiality throughout.
Key Responsibilities 📝
- Provide interpretation services across industries (medical, legal, customer service) between English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese
- Ensure accuracy, clarity, and neutrality while preserving tone, intent, and emotion
- Maintain confidentiality and impartiality at all times
- Manage call flow professionally, respectfully intervening for clarification when needed
- Demonstrate emotional intelligence during high-pressure or emotionally charged interactions
- Utilize memory, note-taking, and active listening techniques for longer exchanges
- Stay within the interpretive role, avoiding personal opinions or advice
- Engage in ongoing training & coaching to improve skills
- Use basic computer tools (MS Office, internal platforms) to manage calls and logs

Required Qualifications ✅
- High school diploma or equivalent (college preferred)
- Fluency in English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese at B2+ level or higher
- Ability to pass language and interpreting skills assessments
- At least 6 months' experience in call centers, customer service, or interpreting
- Strong communication skills and ethical decision-making abilities
- Ability to stay clear-headed in fast-paced, emotionally charged situations
- Professional responsibility, integrity, and good time management
- Comfort with assertive communication and managing sessions
- Basic computer proficiency (typing, MS Office)
- Quiet, distraction-free workspace for active listening
- Stable internet connection (cable, DSL, fiber)—cellular data/hotspots not permitted
- Valid government-issued photo ID required throughout recruiting and training
Preferred Qualifications 🌟
- Certification in medical, legal, or community interpreting (a strong plus)
- Experience with remote work tools & communication platforms

- Desktop or laptop (Windows or Mac) with ≥16GB RAM
