Overview

We are seeking professional trilingual speakers fluent in English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese. This role involves remote interpretation services in call center-style environments, supporting healthcare, legal, financial, and customer service sectors. Your expertise will facilitate accurate, culturally sensitive communication, directly impacting people's lives.

Role Significance

Interpreters at TPC are vital in bridging language gaps for limited-English speakers, whether supporting medical appointments, legal consultations, or essential service access. This professional role demands precision, cultural awareness, and the ability to interpret complex dialogues swiftly and accurately, including idiomatic expressions and specialized terminology.

Required Skills & Qualities

• Professional-level fluency in English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese (B2+ or higher)
• Ability to interpret complex conversations with accuracy and speed
• Strong active listening, emotional regulation, empathy, and professionalism
• Adaptability to fast-paced, high-pressure situations
• Strict adherence to interpretation protocols to ensure neutrality and confidentiality

Key Responsibilities

• 🔄 Provide consecutive interpretation services across various industries (medical, legal, customer service, etc.)
• 📝 Ensure clarity, accuracy, and neutrality in all interpretations, preserving tone and intent
• 🔒 Maintain confidentiality and impartiality at all times
• 📞 Manage call flow professionally, intervening respectfully for clarification when necessary
• 🤝 Demonstrate emotional intelligence, especially during high-pressure or emotionally charged interactions
• 🧠 Apply active listening, note-taking, and memory techniques during longer exchanges
• 🚫 Stay within the interpreter role, avoiding personal opinions or advice
• 🎓 Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and feedback sessions to enhance skills
• 💻 Use computer tools (MS Office, internal platforms) to manage calls and log activities

Required Qualifications

• 🎓 High school diploma or equivalent (college preferred)
• 🗣️ Fluency in English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese (B2+ or higher)
• 📝 Ability to pass language and interpreting skills assessments
• ⏳ Minimum of 6 months’ experience in call centers, customer service, or interpreting
• 🗨️ Strong verbal communication skills, accuracy, and ethical judgment
• 🌐 Ability to work professionally in fast-paced, emotionally complex scenarios

• 🖥️ Basic computer skills, including MS Office and typing
• 🔕 Quiet, distraction-free workspace
• 🌐 Stable internet connection (no cellular data or hotspots)
• 🛂 Valid government-issued photo ID (must provide during recruitment and training)

Preferred Qualifications

• 🖥️ Experience with remote work tools and communication platforms

Remote Work Requirements

• 🛋️ Quiet, comfortable, distraction-free environment
• 💻 Desktop or laptop (Windows or Mac) with at least 16GB RAM
• 🌐 Broadband internet: minimum 30 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload (no cellular hotspots)
• 🖥️ Computer no older than 5 years, with a functioning webcam
• 🖥️ Windows 10 or newer / macOS Big Sur (OS 11) or newer
