About the Role 📝

TransPerfect Connect (TPC) is seeking highly fluent, professional Trilingual speakers in English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese. If you have experience using your language skills in a call center or professional setting, this might be the perfect opportunity for you! We provide comprehensive paid training to launch your career as an Over-the-Phone (OPI) and Video Remote Interpreter (VRI).

The Vital Role of Interpreters at TPC 🎯

Interpreters at TPC facilitate accurate, culturally appropriate communication for limited-English speakers. Whether assisting during medical appointments or guiding access to essential services, your linguistic skills will create a real-world impact.

This role requires professional-level command of multiple languages and the ability to interpret complex, nuanced conversations quickly and accurately, including idiomatic expressions and specialized terminology.

Key Responsibilities ✅

  • Provide consecutive interpretation services across medical, legal, customer service, and other industries
  • Ensure accuracy, clarity, and neutrality—preserving tone, intent, and emotion
  • Maintain confidentiality and impartiality at all times
  • Manage call flow professionally, including respectful clarifications
  • Demonstrate emotional intelligence during sensitive interactions
  • Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and performance feedback
  • Use basic computer tools (MS Office, internal platforms) effectively during calls

Required Qualifications ✅

  • High school diploma or equivalent; college preferred
  • Fluency in English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese (B2+ proficiency or higher)
  • Ability to pass language and interpretation assessments
  • At least 6 months of call center, customer service, or interpreting experience
  • Strong verbal communication skills and ethical decision-making
  • Professional handling of complex and emotionally charged situations
  • Basic computer skills (typing, MS Office)
  • A quiet, distraction-free workspace with stable internet (no cellular hotspots)
  • Valid government-issued photo ID required during recruitment and training

Preferred Qualifications 🌟

  • Certification in medical, legal, or community interpreting
  • Experience with remote communication platforms and tools

Remote Work Requirements 📡

  • Quiet, comfortable workspace free of distractions
  • Desktop or laptop with at least 16GB RAM (Windows or Mac)
  • Broadband internet (minimum 30 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload)
  • Computer no older than 5 years with a functioning webcam
  • Windows 10+ or macOS Big Sur (OS 11)+
