TransPerfect Connect (TPC) is seeking highly fluent, professional trilingual speakers (English <> Fuzhounese, Mandarin, Cantonese) with experience in a call center environment. About the Role

Interpreters at TPC are vital in providing accurate, culturally sensitive communication for limited-English speakers. Whether assisting patients during medical appointments or helping clients access essential services, your expertise makes a real-world difference.

This structured, call center-style position requires professional-level fluency in English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese. You must interpret complex conversations swiftly and accurately, handling idiomatic expressions, specialized terminology, and emotionally nuanced content.

Success hinges on strong active listening, emotional control, professionalism, empathy, and adaptability. You will manage live calls under pressure, maintaining neutrality, accuracy, and confidentiality throughout.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide interpretation services between English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese across industries such as medical, legal, and customer service
  • Ensure accuracy, clarity, and neutrality, preserving tone, intent, and emotion
  • Maintain confidentiality and impartiality at all times
  • Manage call flow professionally, intervening respectfully for clarification when necessary
  • Demonstrate emotional intelligence during high-pressure or emotional interactions
  • Apply memory retention, active listening, and note-taking techniques for longer exchanges
  • Stay within your interpretative role, avoiding personal opinions or advice
  • Participate in training and coaching to continually improve skills
  • Use computer tools (MS Office, internal platforms) to manage calls and log activity

Required Qualifications ✅

  • High school diploma or equivalent (college preferred)
  • Fluency in English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese with B2+ proficiency or higher
  • Ability to pass language and interpreting skills assessments
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in call center, customer service, or interpreting
  • Strong verbal communication and ethical decision-making skills
  • Ability to work professionally in fast-paced, emotionally charged situations
  • Good time management, responsibility, and integrity
  • Comfort with assertive communication and session control
  • Basic computer skills including typing and MS Office
  • A quiet, distraction-free workspace for active listening
  • Stable home internet connection (cable or fiber; cellular hotspots not permitted)
  • Valid government-issued photo ID during recruitment and training

Preferred Qualifications ⭐
