About the Role
As a Trilingual Interpreter at TPC, you'll facilitate precise communication for limited-English speakers across various sectors including healthcare, legal, and financial services. You’ll receive comprehensive paid training to prepare you for roles as an Over-the-Phone (OPI) and Video Remote Interpreter (VRI). This is a structured position that requires professional-level fluency, quick thinking, and empathy to support real-world needs.
Key Responsibilities 📝
- Interpret across industries: Medical, legal, customer service, and more, between English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
- Ensure accuracy: Preserve tone, intent, emotion, and cultural nuances in every interpretation.
- Maintain confidentiality and neutrality: Adhere strictly to professional standards.
- Manage call flow: Handle interactions respectfully, intervene for clarification when necessary.
- Show emotional intelligence: Stay composed during high-pressure or emotionally charged conversations.
- Apply active listening and note-taking: Manage longer exchanges effectively.
- Stay within your role: Avoid offering personal opinions or advice.
- Participate in ongoing training: Engage in coaching to continually improve skills.
- Use computer tools: Manage calls and logs using MS Office and internal platforms.

Required Qualifications ✅
- High school diploma or equivalent; college preferred.
- Fluency in English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese (B2+ proficiency).
- Pass a language and interpretation skills assessment.
- At least 6 months of call center, customer service, or interpreting experience.
- Strong verbal communication skills and ethical decision-making.
- Ability to perform under pressure in emotionally complex situations.
- Professional responsibility, integrity, and excellent time management.
- Comfort with assertive communication and session control.
- Basic computer skills including typing and MS Office navigation.
- Quiet, distraction-free workspace for active listening.
- Stable home internet connection (cable, DSL, fiber; no cellular hotspots).
- Identity verification with valid government-issued photo ID required during recruitment.
Preferred Qualifications 🌟
