About the Role

We are seeking highly fluent, professional speakers of English and Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese. This structured, call center-style position involves working as an Over-the-Phone (OPI) and Video Remote Interpreter (VRI), supporting clients in healthcare, legal, financial, and other sectors.

Candidate Profile

This role requires professional-level command of four languages and the ability to interpret complex and nuanced conversations swiftly and accurately. Candidates must demonstrate:

Key Responsibilities

• Provide consecutive interpretation between English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese across various sectors (medical, legal, customer service, etc.)
• Maintain accuracy, clarity, and neutrality, preserving tone and emotion
• Uphold confidentiality and impartiality at all times 🔒
• Manage call flow professionally, intervening respectfully when clarification is needed
• Demonstrate emotional intelligence during high-pressure interactions 💡
• Use note-taking, active listening, and memory techniques for longer exchanges
• Stay within the interpreter’s role, avoiding personal opinions or advice
• Engage in ongoing training, coaching, and feedback sessions for continuous improvement 🎓
• Utilize basic computer tools (MS Office, internal platforms) to log activities and manage calls

Required Qualifications ✅

• High school diploma or equivalent; college education preferred 🎓
• Fluency in English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese with B2+ proficiency or higher
• Ability to pass language and interpreting skills assessments
• At least 6 months of call center, customer service, or interpreting experience
• Strong verbal communication and ethical decision-making skills
• Ability to think clearly and act professionally in dynamic, emotionally complex situations
• Strong sense of responsibility, integrity, and time management
• Comfort with assertive communication and session control
• Basic computer skills including typing and MS Office navigation
• Quiet, distraction-free workspace suitable for active listening
• Stable home internet connection (cable, DSL, or fiber; cellular data and hotspots not permitted)
• Identity verification via government-issued photo ID during recruitment and training
