About the Role

TransPerfect Connect (TPC) is seeking highly fluent, professional trilingual speakers (English <> Fuzhounese, Mandarin, Cantonese) with experience in a call center-style environment. We provide comprehensive, paid training to kick-start your career as an Over-the-Phone (OPI) and Video Remote Interpreter (VRI). Key Responsibilities 📌

• Provide accurate consecutive interpretation between English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese across various sectors (medical, legal, customer service, etc.)
• Maintain neutrality, clarity, and tone to preserve the speaker’s intent and emotion
• Ensure confidentiality and impartiality at all times
• Manage call flow professionally, intervening respectfully for clarifications
• Demonstrate emotional intelligence in high-pressure situations
• Apply memory retention, active listening, and note-taking techniques to facilitate longer exchanges
• Stay within the interpreter role without sharing personal opinions
• Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and feedback sessions
• Use basic computer tools (MS Office, internal platforms) to log activities and manage calls

Required Qualifications ✅

• High school diploma or equivalent; college education preferred
• Fluency in English, Fuzhounese, Mandarin, and Cantonese (B2+ proficiency or higher)
• Ability to pass a language and interpreting skills assessment
• Minimum of 6 months of experience in call center, customer service, or interpreting roles
• Strong verbal communication skills and ethical decision-making
• Ability to operate professionally in fast-paced, emotionally charged situations
• Professional responsibility, integrity, and time management skills
• Comfort with assertive communication and session control
• Basic computer skills (typing, MS Office navigation)
• Quiet, distraction-free workspace conducive to active listening
• Stable home internet connection (cable, DSL, fiber – cellular data/hotspots not permitted)

Identity qualification: Provide valid, government-issued photo ID during recruiting and training. Non-compliance results in disqualification.
