About the Role
As an Area Manager in Business Banking, you'll lead a team of Business Relationship Managers (BRMs) to develop new business opportunities and strengthen existing relationships. Your efforts will position JPMorgan Chase as the primary bank for our valued clients.
Key Responsibilities 📝
- Leadership & Management: Provide guidance and support to your team in developing deposit, cash management, and credit business, with a focus on relationship-building, client experience, and risk management.
- Performance Oversight: Manage individual team members' performance, ensuring they meet business priorities with an emphasis on client satisfaction and risk control.
- Financial Monitoring: Oversee the area’s revenue and profitability, ensuring compliance with credit quality standards, regulation, and risk protocols. Use reporting tools to monitor performance trends and address issues proactively.
- Team Development: Coach your team on managing portfolios, prospecting, profitability, and client experience. Offer expertise in loan structuring, pricing, and crafting customized solutions for complex challenges.
- Client Relationship Management: Ensure BRMs understand the personal financial goals of clients and connect them with specialists to meet their broader financial needs.
- Collaborative Partnerships: Build strong relationships with partners across different lines of business—including Chase Wealth Management, Home Lending, Branch Teams, Commercial Bank, and Private Bank—to promote a unified, client-centric approach. Represent the bank in community leadership roles like Chamber of Commerce and non-profit boards.
- Talent Acquisition & Retention: Actively recruit diverse candidates, select, develop, and retain top talent in an inclusive and respectful environment.
Required Qualifications & Skills 🎯
- At least 7 years of experience in Business Banking Relationship Management or related business lending, with direct in-person client contact.
- Expertise in deposit and cash management products, as well as business credit underwriting, supported by commercial credit training.
- Exceptional communication skills for engaging with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Ability to analyze reports, metrics, and data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities.
- Proven skill in building collaborative relationships, influencing organizational outcomes, and leading through change. A strong business network and community leadership presence are preferred.
- Disciplined time management, balancing client needs, risks, and organizational interests, with strategic use of time for long-term and daily priorities.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for key meetings, training, and leadership development.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills 🌟
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Previous experience managing a relationship development team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
