🔑 Minimum Qualifications Summary

🎓 Certification & Education

• A Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent, with at least five (5) years of relevant experience in media analysis, regional studies, or related fields.
• TS/SCI Clearance Required

📝 Experience Required

• Extensive experience monitoring various forms of media (newspapers, magazines, online news, television broadcasts, social media) within the CENTCOM AOR.
• Proficiency of 3/3/3 (or higher) in Reading, Speaking, Listening, and Writing per the ILR rating system or similar for languages like Arabic, Farsi, Mandarin, Russian, Hebrew, and Pashto.

• Data Analysis: Expert in organizing and interpreting media data using tools like Excel, SQL, or specialized software.
• Research Skills: Ability to conduct in-depth research and synthesize findings into actionable insights.
• Cultural Awareness: Deep understanding of the social, political, and cultural dynamics in the CENTCOM AOR.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, capable of presenting complex findings to diverse audiences.
• Critical Thinking: Skilled in evaluating media for bias, credibility, and sentiment shifts.
• Networking: Ability to establish and maintain relationships with media professionals, experts, and government officials.

🎯 Job Objective

The Regional Media Analysts team plays a crucial role in supporting CENTCOM’s Public Affairs by providing multilingual monitoring and analysis of foreign news sources in the AOR. The team delivers timely insights on current events and identifies trends affecting public opinion and media sentiment, shaping strategic communication and regional understanding.

💼 Responsibilities

• Provide multilingual monitoring and contextual analysis of news and media within the CENTCOM AOR in real-time.
• Identify and analyze media trends across political, economic, cultural, and security issues influencing public perception.
• Utilize language proficiency and regional expertise to analyze complex geopolitical issues with accuracy.
• Offer regional insights related to international relations, U.S. foreign policy, security, and terrorism.
• Advise leadership on communication strategies based on media sentiment and regional dynamics.
• Recommend influencers and media personalities for engagement and assess media coverage resulting from interactions.
• Draft timely, relevant comprehensive reports for senior leadership and subordinate commands.
• Monitor ongoing media coverage and track the evolution of issues affecting public opinion.
• Provide translation and interpretation services in support of CCPA personnel.
• Update CENTCOM's foreign-language social media with culturally sensitive content aligned with communication strategies.
• Make strategic engagement recommendations, including platform and timing considerations.
• Provide analysis outside normal working hours during crises or high-stakes situations.
• Help facilitate rapid responses during crises by adapting communication strategies to the evolving media landscape.
