Position Summary

Job Description & Responsibilities

As a Portuguese Language Instructor, you will:

  • Demonstrate expertise in Portuguese teaching discipline.
  • Teach courses across various times and locations based on institutional needs.
  • Continuously improve instructional quality and student engagement.
  • Develop and implement diverse teaching methods and materials to serve students with varied backgrounds.
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
  • Evaluate student progress through assessments and review course outcomes.
  • Provide clear, accessible syllabi that outline course content, goals, expectations, and grading criteria.
  • Foster a classroom environment conducive to effective teaching and learning.
  • Manage daily attendance and input final grades into WebDMC.
  • Submit attendance rosters and grade sheets to the Continuing Education Department.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of related work experience.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to plan instruction aligned with syllabus/outlines to meet course objectives.
  • Utilize various teaching styles to cater to diverse learning preferences.
  • Proficient in instructional technologies (computers, internet, media).
  • Advanced proficiency in Portuguese language communication skills.
  • Clear and effective communication of Portuguese language concepts to students.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of teaching or training experience.
  • Experience in developing lesson plans and curricula.
