The Role
- Perform all aspects of the pheresis process, including donor setup, monitoring, and disconnect, in compliance with SOPs.
- Conduct venipuncture following SOPs and FDA guidelines to initiate pheresis procedures.
- Assess vein performance and make adjustments to ensure donor safety, product quality, and a positive donation experience.
- Educate new donors, explaining the screening process, health tests, appointment system, donation fees, policies, nutrition, and address all inquiries professionally.
- Monitor donor reactions and assist or notify staff as needed.
- Record incidents using Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), including machine alerts, alarms, volume variances, and adverse events.
- Perform equipment calibrations and maintenance verifications, troubleshooting alarms or issues, and documenting incidents.
- Monitor donor flow to ensure continuous turnover and alert supervisors to any issues.
- Collect samples such as arm or whole blood samples for testing.
- Accurately record donor data in the electronic management system following SOPs.
- Follow policies related to hyperimmune programs, if applicable.
- Maintain a clean work environment, ensure supplies are available, and adhere to HSE and OSHA policies. Promote safety at all times.
- Ensure confidentiality of personnel, donor, and center information.
- Cross-train in other areas to support operational needs.
- Bilingual skills may be required based on organizational needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support team goals.
Your Skills and Experience
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- Minimum twelve (12) months experience in a medical or healthcare environment preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working Conditions
- Ability to complete routine forms and communicate effectively with clients and team members.
- Must be able to observe equipment operation and communicate routine, factual information clearly.
- Occasional standing and walking, up to 100% of shifts.
- Require reaching, bending, kneeling, and high manual dexterity.
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
- Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Exposure to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood-borne pathogens.
- Mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
- Willingness to work overtime and extended hours as needed.
