Enhance customer satisfaction by providing exceptional service, sales, and digital engagement in our branch, supporting both Consumer and Business Banking clients.

Overview

Our Branch Customer Experience Specialist specializes in delivering outstanding experiences through sales, service, and digital engagement for our Consumer and Business Banking customers. The role supports daily branch operations as a Teller, meeting various customer service and sales needs, whether scheduled or walk-in appointments. You'll identify customer needs, refer complex cases to the appropriate team, and help create meaningful banking moments.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Educate Customers & Make Recommendations 💡: Explain features and benefits of banking solutions, tailoring suggestions based on customer needs.
  • Engage & Promote Digital Banking 📱: Encourage use of digital capabilities during customer interactions and introduce suitable banking partners as opportunities arise.
  • Loan & Service Explanation 🏦: Clarify high-level decision criteria for loan applications and handle servicing-related inquiries to identify additional banking needs.
  • Follow Sales & Customer Service Standards 📝: Adhere to the bank’s sales process, providing customer-focused advice for moments that matter most.
  • Proactive Customer Outreach 📞: Reach out to customers to foster retention and expand banking relationships.
  • Lobby & Relationship Management 🤝: Greet customers, actively address their banking needs, and introduce banking partners when appropriate.
  • Compliance & Risk Management 🛡️: Assist with AML, BSA, KYC activities, escalate suspected fraud cases, and ensure accurate logging of customer interactions.
  • Operational Tasks & Documentation 📋: Complete transactions, document interactions, and adhere to operational standards and policies.
  • Maintain Brand & Culture 🌟: Promote an inclusive environment that reflects M&T Bank’s values and supports regulatory compliance.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned to support branch success.

Scope of Responsibilities

This role is pivotal in delivering superior service, resolving customer issues promptly, and driving sales within our branch. The job involves interacting with various departments to ensure efficient operations and requires a customer-centric approach, adaptability, digital fluency, and critical thinking. The position demands versatility to handle all banking needs, from opening accounts to loan processing and problem resolution.

Education & Experience

Required 🎓

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year of proven experience in retail sales, customer service, call centers, or telesales.
  • Fluent communication in English and a second language (assessment may be required).
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle difficult customer conversations effectively.
  • Organizational and time management proficiency.
  • Comfort with internet-based technology.

Preferred 🌟

  • Experience with sales or referral achievement.

Physical Requirements 💪

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Prolonged use of hands and fingers.
  • Capability to lift objects weighing 5 to 30 lbs.
  • Read fine print and interact in a face-to-face environment.

Compensation & Location

The hourly pay range for this position is $20.55 - $34.25 (USD). Compensation will depend on your knowledge, skills, and experience.
