Role Overview: Optometric Technician
The optometric technician plays a vital role in maintaining efficient patient flow by assisting the optometrist with pre-screenings and testing prior to examinations. The vision tests conducted by this role enable the optometrist to provide optimal care. No optical experience or certification is required, as training will be provided!

Job Description
What would you do? – The Specifics
- Ensure high-quality patient care.
- Maintain a professional atmosphere and appearance within the doctor’s office and pretest room.
- Understand ocular terminology, eye diseases, and abbreviations.
- Explain preliminary examinations to patients.
- Complete necessary paperwork and perform testing on patients prior to doctor examinations.
- Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings to eligible patients.
- Perform exam pre-screenings.
- Review prescriptions and patient information carefully; identify any special needs and consult with the optician, Doctor, or Retail Management when necessary.
- Ensure proper maintenance of all equipment, both doctor and pre-test devices.
Qualifications

- Fluent in both English and Spanish (reading and speaking).
- Previous retail or optical experience is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Willingness to learn optical knowledge.
- Ability to clearly instruct customers.

- Excellent organizational and detail-oriented skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
- Professional attitude and appearance.
