Position Overview

This role involves training and assessing the competency of Certified Home Health Aides (HHAs) and trainees, working under general supervision to ensure high-quality patient care and professional development.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide classroom instruction and clinical assessments: Deliver training for students enrolled in the Home Health Aide (HHA) Training Program, compliant with New York State Department of Health regulations.
• Supervise and evaluate: Observe and assess trainees and HHAs in labs and patient care settings across various locations.
• Conduct in-service and specialty classes: Demonstrate required skills, ensuring competency before placement in patients’ homes.
• Curriculum development: Identify learning needs, revise, and create course content to enhance training programs.
• Performance management: Communicate HHA performance concerns to supervisors or clinical managers.
• Facilitate communication: Serve as a liaison between the Education Department and Operations staff.
• Foster a positive environment: Create a safe, respectful, and inclusive space for HHAs and trainees.
• Program development: Collaborate on the creation of specialty training programs.
• New hire orientation: Introduce new employees to VNS Health policies, procedures, and performance expectations.
• Program evaluation: Review and analyze the effectiveness of the HHA Training Program.
• Additional duties: Participate in special projects and perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Licenses and Certifications

• Valid license and current registration to practice as a registered professional nurse in New York State 🏥

Education

• Associate's Degree in Nursing required
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred

Work Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year in a recognized home health care agency 🩺
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong facilitation and training skills preferred
• Experience supervising and evaluating HHAs or paraprofessionals highly desirable

Compensation

Salary range: USD $77,200.00 - USD $96,500.00 per year 💰
