Institute for the Study of War Is Hiring A National Security and Intelligence Analysis Internship Fall 2025
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) offers dynamic internship programs designed to develop the next generation of national security leaders through hands-on research and analysis. Join us to work at the forefront of U.S. national security and intelligence analysis.
Position Description
ISW is seeking motivated and experienced college students or recent graduates to join our intern team across various departments, including Russia, China, Iran's Axis of Resistance, Geospatial Intelligence, National Security Technologies, our Cognitive Warfare Task Force, and Communications. Interns will gain unique exposure to conflict analysis, policy development, and cutting-edge technologies, directly contributing to our mission of providing timely intelligence to policymakers and warfighters.

Internship Focus Areas
National Security and Intelligence Analysis Internship 🔍
As a leading source of analysis on global conflicts, ISW interns support our research efforts by:
- Assisting analysts and handling research projects
- Collecting, processing, and analyzing intelligence from native language sources
- Generating intelligence products and editing publications
- Supporting public events and briefings
This full-time internship (five days per week) offers a unique chance to work in a fast-paced environment with access to innovative open-source collection and analysis tools. Part-time arrangements may be considered.
Qualifications 🎓
- Candidates must be motivated, organized college students or recent graduates with relevant expertise
- Excellent writing, editing, and oral communication skills
- Proficiency in Arabic, Hebrew, Russian, Mandarin, Turkish, Kurdish, Farsi, or Python programming language (preferred)
- Ability to conduct complex tasks efficiently and timely
- Self-motivated, independent, creative, and adaptable to a dynamic environment
- Strong commitment and interest in ISW's mission and values
Program Dates & Application Process 📅
The Fall 2025 internship program runs from September 9, 2025 to December 12, 2025. Interns must:
- Be authorized and physically present to work in the United States
- Not work remotely outside the U.S.
- If on a student visa, obtain CPT authorization before starting

ISW Scholarship Program 💰
Intern candidates can receive up to a $1,000 monthly living stipend through our scholarship program. To be considered, applicants must:

- Your career aspirations and how the internship will help
- Reasons for applying for the scholarship

The scholarship application is reviewed on a rolling basis until July 25, 2025. Note that the stipend is taxable income.
