Position Opening: Manuscript Data Curation Fellow ✍️
Job Profile: Librarian A
Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Department: University Library
Salary Range: $50,000 - $55,000 per year
This role involves collaborating with member institutions to create and enrich metadata descriptions for undescribed manuscript objects, supporting the digital scholarship community and promoting best practices in manuscript description.
Key Responsibilities 📋
- Create original metadata descriptions for undescribed manuscripts in the Digital Scriptorium (DS)
- Assess needs and conduct outreach to DS members for metadata support
- Reconcile and verify data for DS catalog entries
- Conduct or assist in online workshops and training sessions
- Promote DS work at conferences and through scholarly publications
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications & Preferred Skills 🎓
- Master’s degree (M.S. or M.A.) with 0-1 years of experience, or equivalent
- Preferred: MLIS with manuscript studies background or PhD in a related field
- Proficiency in classical languages (Latin, Greek, Sanskrit) and/or modern languages (Arabic, Hebrew, French, etc.)
- Knowledge of manuscript description best practices and authority usage
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Experience working collaboratively with stakeholders and technical teams
- Ability to work remotely with conferencing tools
