The Opportunity 🛰️
Are you a mission-focused Chinese Language Analyst? Join a dynamic team of Intelligence Community professionals supporting national security objectives. Use your foreign language skills to research, translate, report, and analyze foreign technical materials.
You will support engineers by translating and analyzing intermediate to advanced technical materials, including manuals, patents, and foreign periodicals on technology, into clear American English.
We seek technically minded Mandarin linguists to assist in researching and exploiting technical data sources, assessing foreign military capabilities, and maintaining relevant databases on weapons, C2 systems, and more.
Responsibilities 📌
- Translate and analyze technical info on Chinese electronic systems, subsystems, and associated technologies, focusing on embedded systems, wireless networks, software-defined radios, and communications systems engineering.
- Perform text translation, transcription, and conduct quality control reviews.
- Scan, sort, and categorize foreign language materials.
- Extract essential information from complex sources.
- Render translations and transcripts based on sophisticated technical material.
- Support comprehensive technical assessments through independent research and technical writing.
- Assist engineers in evaluating the reliability of foreign equipment, R&D, and production capabilities.
- Utilize OSINT tools as needed.
Qualifications ✅
- U.S. citizen with an active TS/SCI security clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in linguistics or related field.
- Native or near-native Mandarin proficiency; DLPT 3/3 or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of professional translation, transcription, or interpretation experience.
- Ability to pass advanced English testing.
- ILR Level 3+ in Mandarin translation (Reading).
- Experience as a linguist on DoD programs for 3+ years.
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Comfortable with systems analysis and detailed evaluation.
- Deep understanding of geopolitical and cultural nuances of Mandarin-speaking regions.

Compensation 🔖
The salary range for this role is $90,300 - $189,600, influenced by location, experience, skills, education, and certifications.
