The Difference You Will Make
As travel rebounds post-pandemic, Airbnb is evolving strategically, and so is our Localization team. We’ve shifted from managing translation to becoming drivers of international growth, collaborating across teams to launch products like our Airbnb Translation Engine—a machine translation service integrated across all product flows.
We continue to invest in internationalization experts to craft language strategies, working with internal stakeholders and external partners to develop localizable products and meet translation needs.
In this role, you will lead a team of Localization Managers, serving as linguistic and cultural experts. Your work will ensure Airbnb’s tone, style, and voice resonate authentically in every language, providing users with a native experience on all platforms. 🌐🎉
A Typical Day
- Lead and motivate a team of Localization Managers, focusing on performance, talent development, and change management
- Develop international growth strategies through linguistic and cultural expertise, collaborating with central and local teams
- Advocate for localization best practices to deliver exceptional user experiences
- Engage with market stakeholders for cultural insights and product influence
- Drive quality initiatives in translation and language services
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure high-quality translations in Mexican Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese
- Gather and analyze feedback from users and internal teams
- Establish and maintain linguistic standards and guidelines
- Support content marketing with copywriting efforts
- Research user needs across international markets
- Partner with the Language Lead for vendor training and process optimization
- Collaborate with project teams to ship top-quality international products
Your Expertise
- 8+ years managing language quality and localization programs at a strategic level
- 1+ years of direct people management, ideally with international reports
- Native/bilingual fluency in Spanish (Mexican) and English
- Proven experience in translation, localization, and language quality management
- Strong time management, multitasking, and organizational skills
- Initiative-driven with the ability to work independently and strategically
- Passionate about languages and translation technologies
- Experience with online translation software
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration

This role is US - Remote Eligible. Occasional office presence or offsite attendance may be required per your manager's instructions. Compensation & Benefits
Our salaries vary based on experience, skills, location, and market factors. The base pay range for this role is $119,000—$140,000 USD. This role may also include bonuses, equity, benefits, and travel perks.
