Who We Are Looking For
We seek a highly skilled French/Hausa Linguist capable of performing complex linguistic tasks with exceptional accuracy and cultural insight.
Your Responsibilities
- Translation
- Translate documents (digital and hard copy) accurately between French, Hausa, and English.
- Articulate subtle nuances, cultural references, and abstract concepts precisely.
- Incorporate geopolitical, regional, ethnic, and cultural references effectively.
- Use terminology aligned with subject matter norms in the target language.
- Interpretation
- Perform consecutive interpretation; occasional simultaneous interpretation may be required.
- Demonstrate high fidelity and fluency, understanding regional dialects and cultural contexts.
- Transcription
- Accurately transcribe audio or internet-based content.
- Create high-quality English-language reports from audio/visual materials.
- Show a nuanced understanding of dialectical variations.
- Gisting & Summarization
- Identify and summarize relevant facts and abstract concepts.
- Extract critical information from extensive datasets.
- Utilize reference materials to ensure quality output.
Security Clearance Requirements 🔐
Applicants must possess TS/SCI clearance with polygraph, fully adjudicated prior to employment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent military training with 4-8 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 2-6 years. Additional years of experience can compensate for education.
- Degree in translation or interpretation is highly desirable.
- Experience with Human Language Technology (HLT) is a bonus.
- Pass Leidos-administered language proficiency tests at Primary level or higher.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and online research skills.
- All candidates must pass language assessments from Leidos or approved commercial vendors.
Preferred Qualifications ✅
- Experience supporting deployment as a linguist in contingency operations.
- Familiarity with U.S. Intelligence Community, military, or law enforcement environments.
- Ability to effectively present and communicate findings to diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in multiple languages is a significant asset.
Additional Information 📋
- Participation in all sponsor-related training required.
- Completion of medical/laboratory and physical screens per program standards.
- Successful weapons training completion required.
- This is a hybrid role involving travel OCONUS, supporting the contract 24/7 during travel.
