Position Details

Job Title: Linguistic Data Auditor

Location: Remote, USA

Role Overview

This role involves auditing vendor-produced data and performing direct annotations on high-priority projects. You will leverage your linguistic expertise and analytical skills to ensure high-quality data across various domains, supporting foundational data development and continuous model improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Quality Assurance: Follow task guidelines precisely to produce high-quality annotations and audits
• Communication: Actively participate in kickoff meetings and discuss edge cases or guideline clarifications via Slack
• Task Management: Use SIM issue tickets to receive and track assignments
• Prioritization: Adapt to shifting task urgencies while maintaining quality standards
• Feedback & Improvement: Provide feedback on vendor quality and contribute to ongoing process enhancements
• Remote Collaboration: Work flexibly with a primarily West Coast-based team, meeting deadlines and collaborating across US locations

Focus Areas

• Annotate, generate, and ensure quality of linguistic data, identifying categories with adherence to guidelines
• Collaborate with fellow linguists to resolve annotation ambiguities and inconsistencies
• Conduct qualitative error trend analysis and develop strategies for data quality improvement
• Partner with linguists, data scientists, and operations to innovate processes and workflows
• Provide constructive feedback to external annotation teams for data accuracy enhancement

Project Highlights

• Evaluating documents in various formats (Word, Excel, PDF, PPT, CSV) including tables and images
• Generating question-answer pairs from qualified content
• Conducting rigorous quality reviews and iterative improvements
• Auditing vendor annotations for accuracy and quality

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Philosophy, Cognitive Science, or Foreign Languages
• Fluency or native proficiency in French, German, or Hebrew
• Proficient in English for communication and tasks
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify linguistic ambiguities and grammatical issues
• Experience with linguistic annotation and data auditing
• Familiarity with:
• QA pair validation and creation
• Ground truth generation and evaluation
• Query rewriting and success rate evaluation
• Markup formats: JSON, YAML, XML
• Unix command-line tools
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Compensation & Benefits 💼

Salary Range: $60,000 – $65,000 annually

Factors influencing pay include location, skills, education, and experience.
