Center for Family Life in Sunset Park is looking for a dedicated full-time Immigration Navigator and Workshop Leader to support our immigrant communities through legal assistance, workshops, and community outreach.

- Compensation: $47,000 - $60,000 per year 💰

About the Role
Located in Sunset Park Brooklyn, CFLSP’s Immigration Legal Support Center (formerly ActionNYC), in partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA), offers free legal services to immigrants. As an Immigration Navigator, you will provide essential paralegal support, facilitate workshops on emergency preparedness and guardianship planning, and assist immigrants throughout NYC.

Key Responsibilities 📝
- Legal Assistance: Provide pro se support for relief applications such as Asylum, TPS, Work Authorization, and Juvenile Status, under attorney supervision.
- Client Intake: Conduct trauma-informed, comprehensive intakes to determine eligibility for immigration relief.
- Documentation: Assist clients in obtaining necessary documents for their applications.
- Workshops: Facilitate two monthly workshops on emergency preparedness and guardianship planning using standard curricula.
- Client Coordination: Work closely with the Special Initiative team to provide integrated services.
- Referrals: Refer clients for additional legal or social services outside the scope of our program.
- Community Outreach: Attend events to share information and raise awareness.
- Service Delivery: Offer on-site and community-based services as needed.
- Training & Development: Complete legal training and participate in ongoing professional development.
- Administrative Tasks: Maintain case files, complete documentation, and track outcomes.
- Meetings & Collaboration: Attend staff meetings, supervision, and collaborate across programs for holistic support.
- Special Opportunities: Potential to become a BIA Accredited Representative upon training and eligibility.
- Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications 🎓
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent community/professional experience
- Bilingual in Spanish and English required
- Experience with community service and/or immigration work is a plus
- Proficient in data entry and MS Office applications
- Ability to work independently with flexibility
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities
- Experience working with diverse communities
- Availability for occasional evenings and weekends for community events
- Initiative, motivation, and eagerness to learn
