Job Description
The preschool teacher functions as a guiding presence, supporting students’ academic, emotional, and physical growth within a carefully prepared environment that aligns with Montessori, Reggio, and Nature-Based philosophies. The teacher will work closely under the supervision of the Director to foster a safe, respectful, and enriching learning atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Classroom Setup & Maintenance 🎨: Prepare the environment, materials, and equipment; ensure all are in good repair. Maintain a neat, organized, and clean classroom. Create and inventory materials at the start and end of the year.
- Curriculum Development 📚: Plan and implement the WELA curriculum. Develop lesson plans, deliver engaging presentations, and track student progress systematically.
- Student Support 🤝: Guide children toward self-directed learning and normalization, monitoring their holistic development.
- Safety & Well-being 🛡️: Ensure physical and emotional safety, following appropriate policies and procedures to promote well-being.
- Conflict Resolution & Environment 👥: Foster a respectful environment and advocate for conflict resolution strategies.
- Staff Training & Supervision 💼: Provide instruction for assistants and supervise their activities daily.
- Scheduling & Activities 📅: Prepare weekly, monthly, and yearly schedules for activities, themes, and school events.
- Budget & Communication 💵✉️: Manage classroom budget, recommend improvements, greet visitors, and communicate with parents about their child's progress and school events.
- Outdoor Activities outdoor 🌳: Lead and coordinate outdoor play and learning opportunities.
- Administration & Compliance 📝: Complete paperwork timely, participate in trainings, and comply with safety and licensing requirements, including drills and attendance tracking.
- Community Engagement 🤗: Host parent nights, participate in staff meetings, and contribute to school events and initiatives.
- Confidentiality & Safety 🔒🧯: Maintain confidentiality, work with DSS as needed, and lead safety drills, including fire, earthquake, and lockdown procedures.
- Team Collaboration 🤝: Hold regular meetings with staff to discuss plans, challenges, and goals, fostering a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications
- Language: Vietnamese fluency required.
- Educational Background: B.A. in early childhood education or a minimum of 12 ECE units, including 3 units in infant care, plus 1 year of teaching experience.
- Skills & Attributes: Passion for child-centered education, excellent planning and organizational skills, patience, observational ability, calmness under pressure, and strong communication skills with children, staff, and parents.
- Attitudes: Positive, open-minded, and respectful attitude toward all children.
- Certifications & Clearances: Up-to-date with California requirements, including TB testing, immunizations, criminal background check, medical clearance, CPR certification, and compliance with licensing standards.
