Position Details

• Position Availability: Spring 2026 until filled
• Position Title: Spring 2026 and Summer 2026 Languages Tutor - Japanese

Responsibilities

Language Tutors will dedicate at least five hours weekly (across a minimum of three days) to support students at the Languages Tutoring Lab/Online. Specific duties include:

• Providing grammar explanations & assisting with language proficiency development
• Reviewing drafts of written work
• Supporting oral and listening skills practice
• Attending Tutor Meetings & Training Sessions
• Communicating regularly with the Tutoring Coordinator and Assistant Director of Administration
• Supporting cultural activities and weekly conversation sessions (as needed)

Work Details & Compensation

• Rate: $29.20/hr 💵
• Work Mode: On campus or remote 🏢💻

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Advanced or near-native fluency in Japanese
• Intermediate-to-high proficiency in English for explanations
• Excellent organizational & communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior tutoring or teaching experience in Japanese
• Graduate students (preferred) or advanced undergraduate students
• Knowledge of language pedagogy
• Experience with tools such as Starfish, PPT, Canvas, Skype, Zoom, Google Drive
• Experience with web-based apps and tools (blogs, wikis, etc.)
• Commitment to at least two semesters
