MaxCyte is seeking an experienced Japan Sales Manager to lead revenue growth and market expansion. This pivotal role focuses on managing local dealers, building strategic customer demand, and driving the success of our innovative solutions across Japan.

🔍 About the Role

The Japan Sales Manager will oversee the Japan business plan, partner with channel distributors, and foster end-customer engagement. This position requires a proven track record in dealer/sub-dealer models, distributor enablement, and deep knowledge of life science tools markets.

  • Location: Japan
  • Preferred: Field-based / Remote (near a major international airport)

🎯 Key Responsibilities

📈 Channel Strategy, Enablement & Accountability

  • Develop and implement the Japan channel strategy and annual business plan aligned with regional growth targets.
  • Recruit, onboard, and optimize dealer and sub-dealer coverage to expand market reach.
  • Set clear expectations with partners regarding revenue, pipeline, activities, and compliance.
  • Establish structured partner management practices including pipeline reviews, QBRs, training, and co-marketing initiatives.
  • Empower channel partners with tools and training to showcase MaxCyte's value propositions effectively.

🤝 Strategic Account Management & Partnership Development

  • Cultivate and scale strategic relationships within the cell and gene therapy ecosystem as trusted advisors.
  • Co-create and implement tailored Joint Business Plans aligned with pipeline timelines and therapy development goals.
  • Lead negotiations for platform licensing and collaboration agreements to foster sustainable growth and innovative therapies.

🎯 Demand Generation & Market Development

  • Build relationships with key end-user stakeholders across research, manufacturing, and procurement sectors.
  • Identify and nurture new opportunities within biotech, pharma, CDMOs, and academic centers.
  • Provide market insights on competitors, pricing, funding, and therapeutic trends to internal teams and partners.

💼 Sales Execution, Forecasting & CRM

  • Manage the sales pipeline with accurate opportunity tracking and deal progression.
  • Lead impactful product presentations and demos, coordinating with technical teams as needed.
  • Coordinate internal teams to ensure excellent customer experience and order fulfillment.

⚖️ Compliance & Professional Standards

  • Ensure all channel activities adhere to company policies and local regulations.
  • Represent MaxCyte professionally at industry events, customer visits, and partner meetings.

🎓 Requirements

🎓 Education & Experience

  • BSc in Life Sciences or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of direct sales experience in life science tools or related markets.

💼 Professional Expertise

  • 8+ years in life science tools, biotech, pharma, or related sectors.
  • Proven success selling capital equipment (> $100K) into pharmaceutical and biotech accounts.
  • Experience managing dealer/sub-dealer channels, with capability in enablement, performance, and coverage design.
  • Strong skills in business planning, forecasting, KPI management, and CRM discipline.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills across organizational levels.

🧬 Scientific & Technical Knowledge

  • Comprehensive understanding of Cell and Gene therapy, cell manufacturing, immunology, and cell-based assays.
  • Familiarity with transfection techniques and related technologies.

🗣️ Language & Industry Network

  • Fluent in Japanese; proficient in English.
  • Existing relationships within protein production, cell therapy, immunology, and high-throughput screening sectors in Japan.
  • Experience launching or growing channel partnerships and product lines in Japan.
