Internship Opportunities at FDD

The Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) is a nonpartisan organization committed to supporting democratic societies through policy research, journalism, strategic communication, and education. Based in downtown Washington, D.C., FDD offers dynamic internships designed to enhance students' academic and professional growth.

About FDD's Internship Program

All interns will have the chance to participate in a bi-monthly speaker series featuring high-level DC officials and senior staff. Interns are encouraged to leverage this experience by collaborating closely with senior staff, with opportunities to earn academic credit. Interns are also eligible for stipends, contingent upon completing required government documentation.

🌟 Note: FDD's Israel program will offer hybrid and remote internship options for the Fall 2025 semester.

Israel Program Research Internship

The Israel Program seeks both full-time and part-time interns to work closely with the research team on topics related to Israel, Palestinian politics, regional developments, foreign relations, and national security. Candidates with an interest in the Middle East and foreign policy are strongly encouraged to apply. Please specify your project interests in your cover letter. Candidates with research experience and strong writing skills are preferred. Knowledge of Arabic or Hebrew is a plus but not required.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Minimum GPA: 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Relevant fields of study: International Relations, Security Studies, History, Communications, Journalism, International Economics, Political Science, Computer Science, or other STEM fields
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, basic Excel)
  • Commitment: At least 22 hours per week
  • Work Authorization: Must be eligible to work in the United States
