Position Overview
The Intermittent Interpreter provides both simultaneous and consecutive interpreting services during court sessions, helping facilitate communication between parties, witnesses, attorneys, and court staff. These interpreters may also assist in customer service environments within the court.
Work environments include courtrooms and office settings, requiring significant interaction with judges, attorneys, and the public.
Position Details
- Employment Status: Court employee on an as-needed basis
- Work Schedule: No fixed schedule; assignments vary based on court needs
- Location: Any court location within the jurisdiction
- Benefits: Eligible for Social Security and Workers' Compensation coverage
Salary & Compensation 💰
The hourly rate for Intermittent Interpreters is $47.20 per hour.
- Minimum of 4 hours paid per assignment (if available for the full half-day session)
- Additional hours are paid hourly beyond the minimum guarantee
Minimum Qualifications 🎓
Applicants must possess, at the time of application, a valid and current Certified Court Interpreter certification in Arabic, issued by the Judicial Council of California.
Note: Candidates without certification will not be considered.
