Position Overview

The In-Person Interpreter plays a vital role in ensuring seamless communication between Limited English Proficient (LEP) clients and service practitioners across various settings. This flexible contract position offers an excellent opportunity to expand your interpreting business with access to numerous sessions daily.

Job Functions

  • Provide effective onsite interpreting sessions in a professional manner. 🎤
  • Maintain a professional appearance and behavior, including punctuality and preparedness.
  • Adapt quickly to new and changing situations with ease.
  • Adhere to interpreter ethical standards and procedural requirements relevant to the context.
  • Show commitment to cultural sensitivity and support a diverse environment.
  • Respect and understand the culture, dialect, beliefs, and preferences of LEP clients.
  • Demonstrate a passion for customer service and interpreting.
  • Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions. 🗣️
  • Render accurate concepts and meanings according to interpreter protocol.

Qualifications

  • Fluent in both languages: verbal and written in Farsi/Persian and English.
  • Strong reading and writing skills in requested languages.
  • Excellent listening and retention skills to ensure high accuracy.
  • Degrees or certifications in interpreting practices.
  • Completion of Bridging The Gap Medical Interpreting Testing or an accredited medical interpreting training course (e.g., ALTA, MITS, MiTio, Cross-Cultural training).
  • National Medical Interpreter Certification by CCHI or NBCMI (highly preferred).
  • Extensive knowledge of ethical codes and standards of practice (IMIA, NBCMI, NCIHC).
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
