Job Description
The HAS Technical Assistant assists in the daily implementation of the HAS Country Office's functions, focusing on collecting, analyzing, and managing security information in Palestine and surrounding regions. The role involves staff tracking, security alerts, and supporting operational activities to ensure safety and security. The position reports directly to the HAS Manager.
Role and Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
- Monitor all sources of information to gather data on the security situation in Gaza, East Jerusalem/West Bank, and the broader Middle East region. 📡
- Collect, store, and analyze security data using tools such as Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint, and QGIS. 📊
- Assist the HAS Officer in preparing daily, weekly, and monthly security reports based on collected information. 📝
- Maintain location boards tracking NRC staff movements. 🚶♂️🚶♀️
- Alert security focal points on significant events by monitoring internet sources, social media, TV, and radio in local languages. 🌐
- Stay informed on security events in Gaza and the West Bank, ensuring up-to-date situational awareness. 🌍
- Support communication efforts by providing information for SMS alerts and notifications to staff and drivers, following the format: “Security Alert: 0000hrs; Date; Incident; Advisory.” 📱
- Perform additional tasks related to HAS as delegated by the line manager. 🔄
- Coordinate the migration of HSS documents to Office 365 SharePoint, ensuring proper document management and storage. 📁
- Maintain the SharePoint HAS Folder with ICT and collaborate with departments to ensure proper documentation. 🗂️
Qualifications
Essential Professional Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. 🎓
- At least 1 year of experience working with NGOs or in humanitarian assistance programs. 🤝
- Good knowledge of Palestine’s geography, including map reading and interpreting tools like Google My Maps, Google Earth, and QGIS is an asset. 🗺️
- Ability to travel across the West Bank and East Jerusalem. ✈️
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. ✍️
- Proficient in office management software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Power BI knowledge is a plus. 💻
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills in English and Arabic; Hebrew language skills are an advantage. 🗣️📝
